Pros & Cons
Pros
Producto indispensable para carros de golf. Fast charging. Reasonable priced. Single switch for the output voltage, simple and seems reliable.
The output fuse sits on the outside so you can remove / inspect / replace without opening it up. Comes with a spare 10a standard automotive mini blade type fuse. Easy to hook up.
Mppt controller has 3 nominal output voltages (48/60/72v) the output can be set to any desired voltage down to 0. This is the amperage delivered to the 48 volt battery minus the inefficiency caused by resistive heat in the unit due to the conversion.
Highlights
Quality
With lead acid batteries, selection is made with a slide switch for 48, 60 & 72v batteries and the charge cycles are preprogrammed.
This controller does that very well and was easy to install.
This basically takes the total wattage delivered from the 24 volt panel, divides it by 48 volts and the result is the amperage ... Read More
- although the lowest allowed working input is 13v per the manual, i have never been able to get it to output higher voltages i... Read More
Price
Still, for the price and if you are in no panic, you will charge your 48 volt battery.
Even low cost 37vmp grid tie panels will work up to 450w.
Competitiveness
" the switch only goes to 48v as the lowest, so that's what he tested on (thought there's supposed to be a way to go to 24v, we... Read More
I know it can output the full voltage range if the input is at least 19v (which is less than the voc of the majority of solar panels).

I use one 24 volt panel so the amperage delivered to the 48 volt battery to charge it is less than one amp

Remember there is no magic here low wattage in low amps out to the 48 volt battery

I would buy another if i needed it and realized the limitations involved when there is no miracle at work here

Works great but is not good for medium to large systems unless you want a bunch of them

Added a 320 watt solar panel to my golf cart and needed a solar controller that would boost the 40 volts from the panel to charge a 48 volt

The first thing to know about this mppt controller is that although it only has 3 nominal output voltages 486072v the output can be set to any desired voltage down to 0
