Pros & Cons
Pros
I love the quality and volume of audio these speakers produce. I have a couple qualms about them and it's pretty much exclusive to the bluetooth functionality.
The edifier r1280db has a variety of different cables, so that it can accommodate almost any hook up. It has bluetooth and should easily connect to a phone or tablet. Most of my playback is handled by the wonderful free vlc program. When i disconnecte... Read More
They aren't ms10s but they sound quite remarkable. They produce a sound with great clarity and a decent low end. They have a good amount of weight to them so they don't rattle, rubber feet fit well on desk.
Cons
Speakers sound very muddy, almost nonexistent highs, dialogue in scenes nearing unintelligible. Bluetooth keeps cutting out intermittently. Musical sound is mushy.
The amplifier rolls off way too soon, causing poor bass response between 45-100hz (-9db) that the woofers could easily drive with a little boost. No, it is not the fault of the 4 woofer, but of subpar amplifier electronics.

They work beautifully with great sound quality connected to my turntable.
I genuinely had no idea just how much midrange, and treble i have missed over the years.
These edifier r1280db speakers are just kick butt!
Price
Easily worth the $99 on black friday deals.
I am really pleased with these speakers, especially for only $120.
They showed me $1000 bookshelf speakers and $650 bookshelves speakers and then these they ordered from amazon.
People say good value for the price.

Competitiveness
These are comparable to the old fishers, technics, or even bose.
I couldn’t hear the difference between the $1000 and $650 sets even though they showed me a “range and clarity” graph.
