It's larger than i expected and has 3 magnifying glasses built into the lid. It's considerably bigger and has three magnified viewing areas as opposed to only one. It’s successfully has kept outside critters from escaping during observations.
The sponge works well for holding the water. It’s cute and reusable. I wish the tree base was removable for easy transfers. I haven't gotten live ladybugs for it yet - the weather in my area is still too cold/snowy.
This is excellent for a child as young as 3 or 4. It's a perfect home for the kiddos' ladybugs and it's much larger than i expected which i'm sure the ladybugs appreciate. Great for the young and not so young.
Cons
The habitat is cute but the voucher for the ladybugs is only for 3-5 bugs. The top is also pretty flimsy in the manner it hooks on to the base of the lady bug home. After paying additional $12 for the larvae they never hatched from pupa into adults.
It’s a bit deceiving because the ladybugs are not included in this purchase. While you get a certificate that includes the cost of the ladybug, you have to pay a whopping $13 in shipping/handling.

I wrote in requesting a new vial and they sent me what appeared to be a tube of dirt

I had to drill a bunch small holes on the top because i’d like to keep them warm until spring and release them outside with no holes there is not adequate ventilation as is
