Not for a 3rd grader trying to learn how to read. Just build sentences with the kids. Perhaps a book with some ideas on some games or maybe a workbook of some kind to use with the dominoes.

He tells me and everyone else that he can’t read even though he can actually read really well when he’s in the right mood and not being forced to do schoolwork so i was looking for ways to get him to read that didn’t seem like school

Initially these were not what i had planned to order but after the reading rods sentence set became unavailable i decided to give them a try but didn’t have high expectations

The canister is a lot smaller than i expected and the kids had to dump all the tiles out when they played with them because they couldn’t dig around in it to find the tiles they wanted

I was worried they would lose tiles and also knew they would be more likely to play with them if there was less mess to clean up when they were done

I ended up purchasing a second set of tiles and put both into a plastic shoe box container from the dollar store

First he put the words together to make a sentence with guidance then he wrote the sentence
