Pros & Cons
Pros
Ego power+ st1623t 16-inch 56-volt lithium-ion cordless powerload™ with line iq replaces my old craftsman 27cc gas trimmer. No more mixing gas and pulling start cords for me.
This thing is heavy with the 4amp battery. Only drawback is that it's a bit heavy with a 5 amp battery. I must have changed something because the battery has been lasting longer.
It’s a little heavy but it helps to cradle the battery end under the arm. I find the weight to not be an issue when you flip it for edging. I'm a 73 year old woman with arthritic hands, so this thing is a godsend.
Ego line trimmer is the bomb. Echo has very good bump feed, maybe the best? Bitter end of the rotating line is easier to gauge aroundtight, delicate places.
Cons
Ego line trimmer doesn't work. Tried battery two, now no lights come on. Contacted them on the 2nd unit about a warranty. They're absolute junk! Good luck with customer support at ego.
Even if you can slow it down there is so much torque the thing spins out of control. The rotation of the head is reversed from gas trimmers. The head is heavier and worse, top heavy, making it more likley to tip and scalp.
The line always is too short for trimming. The 'telescopic' shaft is a joke. The guard is both too big to see the trimming line spinning and too small to block debris from flying into your face while edging.
Highlights
Quality
I will make product and last long time entire property on single charge not under powered at all works great on tall grass
It is powerful, runs a long time (my whole 1\3 acre subdivision yard), and wonderfully easy to reload string line.
Despite the fact that i purchased this ryobi 40v cordless line trimmer in july of 2022, and i have the receipt from home depot,... Read More
Had a gas/oil powered trimmer for 15+ years, engine was fine with zero maintenance but it crapped out this past year (wonder why, ha-ha).
Price
I didn't get the sale price that i wasted all summer waiting for because frankly, it's so good they probably don't think they have to.
Watch for sales and promotions, i got this and a 20$ pack of ego string for about 230 including taxes, thanks slickdeals.
Shipping
They shipped me a new trimmer within a week.
Competitiveness
As there are more mulched areas than regular in my yard this second position is important to me and the ego does very well in both areas.
The ego is excellent in this wild service actually better than my gas-powered echo.
Out of a list of 10 trimmers, i decided on the ego brand, st1623t model.
