This bed has a higher density foam pad for the dog to lay on it is egg crate shaped on one side and the opposite side is indeed a much higher density foam which the manufacturer describes as gel infused

Im not prepared to attempt a chemical analysis of it but i will say that the foam is heavier and very nicely squishy
