Pros

There aren't many alternative trackballs with more than 5 *. The only two that come close are the profit ergo from kensington and the kensington fusion (5 *) the mouse wheel also tilts up and down to activate separate *, with each button able to be pr...  Read More

In many aspects, it is the superior mouse when compared to the logitech. The transition between bluetooth and dongle is awesome to have. Build quality seems very good, bluetooth and 2.

Elecom deft has a smaller ball that you would use with index and middle finger. It’s much better and more accurate than thumb trackballs. I have large hands (xl glove size), and this fits perfectly.

The trackball sometimes varies depending on whether my hand has sweat, lotion, or grease. And having a scroll wheel again is really helpful. The scroll wheel is maybe a little bit more bumpy/harsh than the huge.

Elecom deft pro is a solid contender for one of my favorite track-balls ever. The larger ball of the pro feels more comfortable to me than the not pro i think -- but only marginally so. I like the little thumb rest ledge beneath the l button on the de...  Read More

Cons

It says deft pro just below the ball. You have to let the mouse ball go everytime you press the right click or risk movement of your cursor. The biggest problem is that i've had it for a month now and it's still sticky to use.

I have a two button trackball with wheel sitting on my desk that would be subject to a 15% restocking fee from amazon. The catch is, the software is a subscription that costs over $10 a month. What a scam.

The software does a very good job of installing and uninstalling but since 6 of the 8 * cannot be assigned. The lack of competitive analysis shows in the inability to categorize functions as well as enable/disable all functionality. The keys and track...  Read More

With just a single battery, it requires frequent (~every few weeks) replacement compared to other wireless mouse when on the high accuracy setting. It is not my pc because i hooke dit to my laptop and the problem still happens there too.

Quality

Seems like it was made well and it’s quite sturdy.

The trackball is sturdy, flexible, cross-platform, and very pleasant to use.

Unfortunately, the quality has gone down hill.

The buttons feel cheap, the scroll ring no longer had a rubbery grip, and often, there was pointer drift.

Packaging/appearance

Pros-quality plastics and packaging: mine came in a nice presentation box with a gatefold for details about the mouse on the in...  Read More

The person that recommended it to me mentioned that, however i did not expect to get a box and manual completely in japanese!

I thought i would take a look, but since i'm not a gamer, found it to be overloaded with "capability".

Competitiveness

My thumb is much faster and more accurate when using my logitech and protoarc trackball mouse.

In addition, elecom makes other types of trackballs and mice as well.

For a quick comparison to the elecom bitra the trackball on the deft pro is easier to control, the deft pro fits better in your...  Read More

Overall, the elecom deft pro trackball is as good as my $18 logitech or $39 protoarc trackball in terms of quality and build.
