The backlighting is a bonus feature but it is only capable of doing three backlight zones as shown in the picture above

An additional thing to note is that before the laptop loads into windows and the program that is responsible for configuring the lighting the keyboard defaults to a dark blue and then abruptly changes to whatever you have it set to

This can be somewhat annoying but its not really terrible

When you holding down a key on the keyboard such as w with gaming you can not use the touchpad

But there is a pretty bad backlight bleed issue in the top left corner

Just be aware that backlight bleed is an issue in these laptops as noted in other reviews
