The computers being recommended by the school it department were nice but would not arrive in a timely matter and were at least a thousand dollars more than this computer

I checked before hard with the it department to see if this computer would run the programs the student would have to successfully navigate the program and got a reasonable reassurance that this computers graphics card would be sufficiently powerful
