They hold on by the tension of the leather. Postive connection, easy swivelling, secure. Leather buttonhole connection is a huge pia!

Cons

The strap ears aren't even double sided (see pic). It's not particularly comfortable. No strap lock, no pick pockets. Very disappointing from ernie ball.
