Because it sits on the rim not inside the pf it doest leave a space inside the pf when it is removed

However the issue i did have is the funnel would not fit flush on the breville portafilter because the dosing funnel lip is too deep and it would come to rest on the portafilter wings before contacting the basket

I could have returned it but instead elected to modify the dosing funnel by grinding down the area on the funnel that would come to rest on the portafilter wings
