Pros
It's slightly lighter weight plastic than original but works fine and i now have clear delicious french press coffee again. Works great and the seal seems to resist staining better than the original. Finally bought new one to replace our worn-out one.... Read More
The twist and lock mechanism keeps the outer basket secured to the inner one. The gasket is tight (but not overly so) against the steel inner wall.
Cons
Don't be fooled, it doesn't. It takes a workman like effort to plunge and removed the filter. The silicone gasket is not the same as the original.

Espro changed the design of the filter from the early model p7

The original design filter used an oring between the inner and outer filter and would pop onoff

The biggest issue with that design was if you had quite a few grounds at the bottom the filter and grounds would create a suction and would cause the outer filter to get stuck in the bottom of the press
