Pros & Cons
Pros
I am stoked with this wedge, my 4th estwing product and certainly not my last. This thing works works ridiculously well.
All wedges need a bit of sharpening at first even if just to remove the paint. Once it's sharpened, go use it. Here it is after whacking on it with a 20 pound sledge hammer.
Wedge works well for splitting smaller logs using a hand sledge hammer. You really need at least 2 of these along with a maul. Perfect for a small backyard firewood stack.
Cons
This wedge is worthless. It is virtually worthless in my opinion. Poor packaging. Over priced at $19.
Other items ok but no padding at all. The issue with this wedge is the coating. The coating on this item is super slippery.
Highlights
Quality
Its 5-pound forged steel construction ensures durability and efficiency, while the 1-7/8" cutting edge makes quick work of even tough logs.
Bought this for the husband and it is sturdy and has worked really well with splitting wood.
This wedge is made of properly hardened american steel that doesn't bend, deform, or "frizzle" on top - and holds its edge.
Even thought these wedges are great, the 36” axe and maul fiberglass handles are junk.
