Pros & Cons
Pros
The pick end is great for prying between bedding planes. Break through quartz granite, crack open gem bearing rock, and disintegrate hardened patches of soil with ease. She sometimes finds fossils stuck in sandstone and this is the perfect tool to hel... Read More
Leather grip hatchets and hammers i used for framing and cabinetry are still lovely tools. They're the best geo hammers on the market.
No more golfer/tennis elbow for me. The 22 oz buries strikes well. The 14 ounce is plenty big enough for almost all jobs.
My family and i enjoy some rock hounding when the opportunity arises. It's sentimental now! No regrets. Makes me feel like a true rock hound.
Cons
Estwing rock pick 22oz is not a geological hammer. Tool comes with a warning label not disclosed when purchased. Warning this tool may chip when struck against rocks or hardened objects with possible eye injury or * injury.
Highlights
Quality
Really happy with the quality of this purchase.
Very high quality materials make them last a lifetime (my first was bought in 1981).
Its an estwing, and the quality is evident from the second you put it in your hand
Always buy a drop forged, guarantee quality.
Shipping
Mine did come in bubble wrap though so they must have changed their shipping procedures.
If you use it as a rock hammer it's going get way more scratched in the first few seconds of use than it ever will due to shipping.
Packaging/appearance
Says multiple places on packaging that it is a “rock pick”.
Good quality hammer, just had to give it a good wash because the packaging was very musty.
Competitiveness
I love my estwing products and i would highly recommend!
I've been using estwing tools since the 1960s.
Like all estwing products it is top of the line.
