Pros & Cons
Pros
Tomahawk is one solid piece of steel from the head to bottom of the shank. The carbon steel has been dipped in some kind of urethane/acrylic to prevent rusting. Beats horseshoes and great for warding off zombie invasions.
This item is very lightweight but very well made. It feels very light, fast and nimble in the hand compared to my other tomahawks. Well balanced, well made, lively in hand.
The handle is much longer than the tomahawks we used in the middle east, which were meant to be used as melee weapons and not to be thrown. The nylon/rubber handle is great for preventing blisters from being generated on gloveless hands. The presumed ... Read More
The ballistic-nylon sheath holds the tomahawk in a reasonably secure fashion and there is a belt loop on the back of it for packing it around. Both blade and point are not sharp but that is not a big issue as i can sharpen them if needed. I genuinely ... Read More
Cons
Mine was forged with a warped/bowed handle. Shaft isn't true, finish flaking, off center bevel, spike not sharp. Thank goodness i wound up returning it directly to home depot.
The last snap catches on the blade. When the hawk is thrown and the blade strikes a surface without your grip on it, the vibration is so bad that even with a perfectly placed throw it vibrates itself out of the wood.
Highlights
Quality
I am very impressed with this product.
Quality is good, sharp and ready to dismember intruders in your neighborhood or at an intersection being blocked etc.
Other than tbat, however, i'm quite pleased with the weapon i purchased, and sincerely hope i never have cause to use it.
Time will tell if the sheath will "break in" and become more useful with the passage of time.
Price
Better tools cost 10 to 20 times as much.
Packaging/appearance
All were the estwing double bit axe with tomahawk label.
It went quickly enough after that, but i can't in good conscience give a full five stars to any blade that requires a power too... Read More
Competitiveness
Like their estwing hammers well made well balanced easy to use
This item is very lightweight but very well made, like every estwing product i have ever purcahased.
I own quite a few estwing products, you can't do much better, especially not with those chinese pieces of garbage!
Very durable and useful tomahawk estwing knocked it out of the park.
