Pros & Cons
Pros
Bought this geological hammer from estwing because of past history with their hammers and camp axes. The estwing rock hammer is a generational gift in our family. Now we have a grandson, will, who received his estwing hammer this year at 8!
The hammer itself looks great, feels sturdy, and i'm excited to use it. The sheath is sturdy and well designed. And seems very durable.
Cons
It's an okay hammer but it is overpriced. I suspect this is a knock-off. Not happy but item is still in working order.
The sole plate is formed inexpensively and is crudely riveted. The hammer, when held in the right hand, curves to the left. I assume that this is not a clever ergonomic feature, but a production defect that got through qc.

Save your money and buy this estwing!
I almost bought a geologist hammer from a local rock store at nearly 15 bucks more.
Little pricy for a rock tool, but you get what you pay for
Appears to be worth the money .

I noticed the corner was torn through and when i opened the package the plastic safety piece that is meant to keep the pointy end of the hammer less pointy was smashed and ultimately useless as it laid there at the bottom of the bag

The steel part of the hammer has blemishes as tools sometimes do but because of the packaging its hard to tell what happened there
