The probe as you can see is fairly large

Initially i thought i had to press the button firmly down then i realized that when you open the probe it does turn on

This comes with a aaa battery which i initially thought was dead but later discovered that it was a plastic sheathing around the battery that most are shipped with

The device starts in fahrenheit when you pull out the probe you can change to celsius with the button but it will always start in fahrenheit when you close and open the probe

If you turn it off with the button instead of closing the probe it will retain whatever scale you last used but close the probe and it will return to fahrenheit

Had to dock 1 star due to unit arriving with dead battery which was very minor as i always have a good supply of aaa batteries on hand

Those corded probes continuously broke which was just so frustrating
