I have dark wood railings stairs and the black gates blended perfectly and even looked like a nice addition but not notably an addon in other words they looked as if they could have been an originalintentional part of the staircases

Note the opening between the rails is narrow enough to protect against a childs head getting stuck but if you have a cat or kitten it is a temptation and they can certainly get their heads between the rails and get stuck
