Past seats relied on the car’s safety belt which at best was a hassle and often left the seat too loose

Our solution was to buy a strap that had connection for attaching to the car’s car seat hooks and while it was a more secure way to go it was often difficult to remove when we didn’t need the seat we’re grandparents
