Pros & Cons

The 250ex welder runs very cool, is significantly smaller than the wp-18 torch head that was supplied, and has proven to be a great modification to the original torch. It has a low start amp and end amp capability for 4t up slope and down slope which ... Read More
These small head torches are a pleasure to work with. They are shipped with a water cooled wp18 torch to take full advantage of the 250 amp capacity of theses units. Most of my welding is done with this machine as i also have a mig and a large 300 amp... Read More
Cons
The biggest caution i have have for anyone thinking of buying an everlast welder. They are not crated, only double heavy boxed, and shipping damage is common.

Price
For the money i doubt you can beat this machine.
Best of all, the price makes it easy to convince yourself to bite the bullet and buy a new welder.
I wanted to learn tig but did not want to spend $5000 for a dynasty and i wanted something small and somewhat portable.
Some acoustic work would be nice, but on an on demand would be easier and not a lot of money to do.
Shipping
Shipping damage problems were a common issue in the past.
The company sent me a new one without any problems and told me not to bother returning the old one.
Packaging/appearance
The company has developed an impressive packaging system for the newer models and mine arrived without a scratch.
Competitiveness
Compare that to the duty cycles of its major blue and red competitors and you can overlook the noise more easily.
Overall this welder works great, and has many features and at a much lower cost than some of the name brands like miller and lincoln etc.
After looking at several brands and reading reviews from the internet, i purchased the everlast powertig 250ex.
I would still invest in a proper gas lense kit like the one sold by jody at weldingtipsandtricks.
