Pros & Cons
Pros
This is a nice autoranging multimeter for the handyman who does not want to pay for a fluke. The fluke is a rolls royce and the extech is a ford. For the price, this multimeter is fine.
Cons
"very disappointed. Another bad knob. After a year it's almost unusable. Clearly it was used, a return probably.
The fuses are pinched between two circuit boards. The fuse is some freakishly tiny model, even smaller than a 5x20mm.
Highlights
Quality
Continuity tests on led building a must and this does it well and moore
Real good multimeter than can check capasitors
Meter worked as expected for 9 months then would not power on when the selector dial was rotated.
The fuse is between two circuit boards, so there is a disassembly process if you blow the fuse; it's a chinese thing.
Price

Shipping
Extech customer service was exceptionally fast in responding to my email questions, which is a nice plus.

Shipping was free without prime and it was on sale too.
I bought this one but didn't arrive with the case.
Competitiveness
It's just as good as the fluke i use in my lab, and 1/4 the price.
If, like me, you don't have a professional's demand for that, you could probably just as well buy the non-rms version: the 420.
Otherwise, it has matched up to fluke in most metering respects.
If you are in need of a very solid dmm for daily or professional usage, fluke or the higher end extech models are probably bett... Read More
