Pros

Tb external hd is really 9 tb (10 billion bytes either way) easy to setup with the console, just plug and play.

Definitely a life saver, and well worth the effort. The appearance of this drive on my desk just looks like it belongs.

Cons

The volume /dev/rdisk3s2 could not be verified completely. Tried connecting to sales instead, but no answer and got sent to a voicemail. Fantom tech support is non-existent.

This is a first time purchase of a fantom drive and i'm sorely disappointed. What a mistake. Piece of junk.

The head seek mechanism thrashes and vibrates the desktop. There is no way you will get me to trust a drive that clicks nonstop. Sidenote:never trust amazon's search engine.

An electrolytic filter capacitor has failed short. Drive frequently disconnects. Tons of i/o errors and dreaded semaphore timeouts.

Great product, works very well and i've had it for about 4 years now.

This product works for mac and pcs

However for the price it had a lot of storage which is a plus.

They are fast and so far no problems with these drives.

This was so simple after i took it out of the box.

Competitiveness

I have a high-end pc and haven't had any problems with this recently.

Cannot play ps5 games off of it, keep that in mind.

As it stands, it seems that even a trifold napkin underneath will make this drive quiet enough to use as long as its not too close to you.

That said, my 8tb fantomdrive doesnt hum at all on any surface.
