Pros & Cons
Pros
Because of the block, the big cleaver knife fits nicely on the countertop with other knives so it not only saves space but is also organized and safe. It even comes with a cutlery block that is just as good as the one with the set from cutco. The 8 ch... Read More
The best knife in this collection seems to be the slicer. It's a good set that includes a six inch cleaver (rare these days) and all the usual kitchen knives with six serrated steak knives to boot.
They are packaged in both plastic and hard cardboard to protect the blades. It's normal to have to handwash these knives and towel dry them dry immediately. You can throw them in a drawer or store them underneath the cutting block and have them much m... Read More
I really like the attached sharpener on the block, thats really nice. Built-in sharpener is a nice touch3. This also makes a nice gift set.
Plastic handles make for an easy grip. They are triple riveted and full tang. Longer blades flex a little more than i like when quartering chickens.
Cons
Knives are less than 2-months old and have rust spots everywhere. The knives are rusted within one week. Sent a email to mfg with no reply.
Highlights
Quality
The knife set is durable and well made.
This set is excellent - whether you want to use the butcher block holder or not this one is top in quality.
That's not an indication of a poor quality knife.
As with nearly all kitchen knives, dishwashing is not recommended.
Price
A worthy purchase given the low price.
But for the price, and for the beginner, this is a great, complete set.
Good value for price love the block
Overall you get a lot of value for the cost.
Packaging/appearance
They are packaged well for safely opening and setting up on your counter.
They are packaged in both plastic and hard cardboard to protect the blades.
Competitiveness
It even comes with a cutlery block that is just as good as the one with the set from cutco that i bought from my nephew years ago.
In this set you get the cleaver, whereas in other farberware sets in this price range you get the santoku.
I've used several different knife sets and i've seen pretty good reviews with these.
