Id add a ceramic sharpener the steel is actually for setting the edge not for sharpening and the flashy stroking on the steel is really not useful

You can tell if you got the edge correct if you cut the edge of a piece of printer paper

The handles are not quite as bright ruby red as in the pic and i am sure they will fade over time red dye is usually pretty prone to fading esp if you put these in the dishwasher which i would not recommend in any case

Depends on your budget if this is as far as the budget goes you will get a set that will have knives you need where you need them and you wont have a drawer full of nonsense

The handle coating is not that robust and some was already dinged when it arrived

These are hand wash and dry immediately no dishwasher

Matched my kitchen set love the red handles did not like how all the steak knives were serrated but that is something that im willing to deal with oso4 convenience dont care that they are hand wash only
