Pros

The handle is sturdy and gives you good leverage for running the knife through. The base has some foam padding to help reduce any sliding. I couldn't be happier with it.

I think this 'no-frills' product has done a darn good job on my kitchen knives. Nothing fancy, just well priced and well made.

Taking one knife seven swipes through this sharpener amazingly revitalized the blade. Just a gentle downard pressure is all you need to hold the sharpener securely.

Cons

The new farberware is very cheaply made now. Save your money. I recommend purchasing the sharpening blocks that have circular steel or ceramic discs on either side of the blade.
