Wire design with caps on the feet to avoid scratching any surfaces. Sturdy and great *. The only nit is that the rubber feet are not installed on the file.
Cons
This product is flimsy and the plastic feet come in a little baggie and don't fit well. While doing work or grabbing a different folder out, tend to send multiple folder's corners dropping between the legs.

I have used this step file for some time now and it has not disappointed.
No frills product, but performing as it should!

For longer term storage youll want something sturdier as when you bump it the files can fall into the middle

This one leans them back so not only do they not bend but you can see the names of the files without having to rifle through

Negatives are that it doesnt have a solid base so you have to be careful not to push it near the edge of the desk and you have to be careful when you put the folders in that they dont fall through

Also you cant fit more than one folder and definitely not really full folders in the slots and it doesnt hold smaller papers you dont want to put in a file yet

The little rubber stoppers for the bottom of the wire feet werent made well and they were hard to get on but nothing worth not buying this again
