Fire ring can be used as a stand-alone product or can be customized to your liking. The lip around the top would allow you to use it freestanding, but in our case it nicely outlines the sunken pit. This is surprisingly well made and durable.

If you wanted to use it elsewhere like on a flagstone paved area you might have to pick up a couple bags of sand to act as an insulator and put the fire pit on top of that

The supplied grate will last one year at most that is very lightweight in my opinion

The poker is too short but typical of other pits i have purchased in the past
