Pros & Cons
Pros
The grate is twice as thick as the one it replaced, and i believe it will translate into lasting longer. Works great in my tiny wood burning stove. Perfect replacement for our old dying one.
Highlights
Quality
The grate is solid and works well.
After several hot fires, the ember retainer is holding up well including the bailing wire at the perimeter.
This is a very good quality grate but has very sharp edges.
I’ve been using ember retainers for years, but they are usually thin and have to be replaced each season because they melt through.
Price
Saved me so much money on wood too!
This saved the old grate from going into the trash and is a lot cheaper than buying a whole new grate.
I hesitated getting this one because it was 50% more expensive than the others.

Put it on our fireplace grate today and had our first fire of the season even though it was only 50 degrees

It arrived with one end being slightly bent and i couldn’t bend it back because it is that solid

One thing i had to search before using was how to bend it so that it would form the grate better still haven’t figured that out haha

I cant believe it took me so long to stumble on this

I broke off the low hanging yielded metal bars from the old grate and attached this ember retainer on top to span the hole

With some heavy gauge bailing wire 14 gauge and linemans pliers i tied off the ember retainer at six points around the perimeter so it wont move when i clean out the ashes
