The volume of the alarm is somewhat low but since he will primarily use it when fishing at the lake which is very quiet he doesnt think the volume will be a problem

The clamp on the fish bite indicator may be too large for my small diameter ice fishing rods but the clamp closes completely so it should not fall off the rod
