The piece belongs to the part that stops the chair from reclining back. It's manageable, however a piece having broken in less than a week does not bode well for the chair's quality. Was missing hardware and a few small leather scuffs.

The chair and ottoman are not leather but are very soft

I think they are some sort of vinyl or pvc based on the smell upon opening the box

The reclining motion is not spring assisted in any way the seat and back ride on some rails and your body movement is the force that moves it

The reclining lock mechanism is only a knob which you need to tighten down once you find the right angle of the back
