The lock is a very smooth easy to set, easy to disengage, and easy to use just the temporary lock feature. The retraction mechanism works like a charm. Make sure everything is off when storing it.

The locking mechanism is already failing. On retracting, it sticks then releases, sometimes causing to * my dog's neck. It tangles around everything more easily than the tape kind and hurts her if she gets it wrapped around her leg.

The new version is less ergonomic and the overall design is a huge downgrade. This design is terrible and very overpriced.
