Packaging/appearance
All i had to do was slide it out of the packaging and lay it on the floor with the textured side up.
It does exactly what it's supposed to, right out of the box.
Competitiveness
This truly is an anti-slip mat for hardwood floors.
First i went to staples just to remind myself of the various materials used by different manufacturers to make these anti-slip mats.

Some people received the mat with the sticker on the wrong side and complained about slipping

It does not slip if the smooth side is placed directly on the hardwood as intended

From prior experience i knew that cheap mats not only smelled bad but tended to crack and become useless within a few months
