Works fine on my hard wood floor.
So far it seems to be a quality product.
We have had no issues with the edges while lying flat on the carpet though, not even with bare feet.
Price
Quality always costs money, but it's a little breathtaking when you see the price.
Shipping
It wad rolled in the shipping container but ;aid out flat in a short period of time.

At first i was disappointed as the packaging indicated the mat was rolled (which it was).

Floor protection mats have never stood up well to long term use normally cracking within 6 months

Fortunately it is rolled the right way so the edges point down to the floor rather than in the air
