Pros & Cons
Pros
The fluval e-series is the best aquarium thermometer on the market. I have a 30 year old 44 gallon fresh tropical water pentagon shaped aquarium. In my 29 gallon high, the 200 watt works great.
Led back-lit lcd display is nice and makes checking the temp very handy. Microprocessor control makes setting the temp easy, as well. Lighted digital display in tank is a bit unsightly, but it is easy to read.
Took me a while to finally purchase this due to all the bad reviews. I'm sure many have had defective units but these heaters are wonderful when functioning properly. I've never had that issue, so i think it's more about aesthetics than anything else.... Read More
It never fluctuates. Turning it down to 75 is fine, but since it will reset to 77 automatically after being powered off (or a power outage), that's somewhat annoying.
No problems with lf (low flow) warnings on the display or wild heating or cooling. I have to buy and place a wavemaker close to the heater and problem solved.
Cons
I suspect this was simply a faulty unit as i have a fluval 306 filter. Temp reading is always off.
Highlights
Quality
Good quality heater i like the knob, display, and you can also change fahrenheit to celcius.
East to read numbers, accurate and we'll made.
It is much harder to toggle than you would expect and it’s impossible to do in the tank without the heater moving around.
As usual the manufacture is over zealous with their products stated capabilities.
Price
But for the price you do get a good product.
What i dislike about the heater is the price is a lot more.
Shipping
I didn't like how it was shipped.
I heat my tank at 76 degrees and by the time this heater arrived at my door the tank was down to 68 degrees.
Packaging/appearance
It came in a box without any protective packing.
Ordered a 200 watt model, received a 100 watt model that had a 200 watt retailer label affixed on the box.
Box came rip but the product looks very new 🤙
Competitiveness
The fluval digital heaters are the best aquarium heaters available.
In fact many products will actually last longer if they can just run as opposed to "short cycling" as when they're considerably over sized.
After trying two other well known brands of heater and not being able to get them to maintain a consistent temp; the fluval was... Read More
