Pros
The sound quality is good, the signal routing flexibility is great. The sound is crisp and clean. The unit is amazing, solidly built and basically completely transparent.
Channel routing is very versatile. The mix control is a bit daunting but any normal oaf like myself should be able to figure it out with no problem. When i'm mixing i use the dim and mute * often.
Ls56 runs all a/d-d/a at 96khz flawlessly with very little noise. There is no latency and everything i have recorded with it has been excellent. Studio mics sound amazing.
The mic pres are very nice and full sounding with plenty of headroom. The preamps are very good and better than other units i tried. The liquid pre-amp settings are a neat little add-on.
Cons
At 9pm they start getting noisy. The day of the gig, the computer couldn't recognize the pro 40. I'm sure mac users have a different story to tell, and hopefully, they will defend the legitimacy of this product themselves.
They're overpriced but at least they work! The second has a trs cable stuck in it. The hybrid jacks are junk.

Resetting mixcontrol to default does nothing i even restored windows to an early time.
There are two instrument inputs (1/4" ts jacks) on the front that disable the two rear xlr jacks when used.
Price
This is the absolute best interface for this price!
At the end a very small price to pay for such an outstanding piece of electronics.
But this is a great way to get close without the cost.

Now my setup is popping, thanks to this right here and i'm loving it.
Competitiveness
Overall the quality is excellent and i would absolutely buy another focusright product in the future.
I've compared the neve, avalon and api models directly, which led me to sell the hardware versions of these units.
Something like ua would be better, but, we're talking about more cash at that point.

Great product but dont forget to make sure your computer and interface is turned completely off before plugging the firewire cable in or it will blow your firewire port

Focusrite will replace it for free under the 30 day warranty but it takes about a month to get it back

Once or twice the firewire cable has just sort of fallen out because it was nudged by accident
