That eill be down to the type and quality of battery used, its miliampage and time used detecting on various thickness materials.
I tried it out where i know pipes, wires, bolts, timber stud work, screws, nails, rebar and gerders to be and it acurately detected all.

I do consider this detector excallent value for money.
Was worried at first it won‘t be any good as it is cheaper than other devices.

Searching for electric cables wall studs etccontrary to other reviews i found it ok for finding areas to drill into that provide shelf support so would have given it 5 stars were it not for the fact that it is overlysensitive to find electrical wiring

Parts of walls where i know for a fact there is no wiring in this case on staircase stairs still seem to dupe this device into creating random beeps

Imagine a metal detector that tells you to dig in areas where there is no treasure but also beep when there actually is treasure there
