Pros
The art direction (scenes, monsters and visuals) are very cool. The designs and creativity expressed are top-notch. The graphics look utterly gorgeous on hdtv sets.
The game is divided into seven chapters. Each chapter takes place in a different realm which are also stunning from the hellish warcadia to the tranquil undersea palace. There are two playable characters - one male and one female.

Cons
I have no qualms with most rpg on ps3, but this game just doesn't deliver. Fight/game play are repetitive fishing expeditions. The concept is alright i guess, but i just couldn't get into this game.
The dialogue is the kind of ridiculous stock dialogue i would expect from a zelda game on the nes. The world map sections are tiny, usually involving walking forty paces and then transitioning to a different section load. The music gets redundant. Eve... Read More

All-in-all, a really good pick up for $20.
Well i bought it on sale somewhere and have been playing it off and on for a long time.
And if you can't decide soon, the price will rise.

Competitiveness
And i have played most rpgs and similar action titles on all three major video game platforms.
Maybe risking myself to the community's hate, i'd compare folklore with more famous rpg titles like final fantasy.
Gameplay is similar to an earlier ps2 title whose name escapes me, but with a stronger emphasis on faeries and magic.

The side characters design is oriented to supernatural beings described in mythology and stories coming out from the villages of northern europe making them colorful and sometimes even quirky in a good way
