Sturdy regular plastic. The range of adjustment is from about two inches to higher that i will ever need. Could be a few inches wider.

I was using one of the memory foam type footrests and noticed the circulation in my legs got cut off since it slowly sunk under my feet.

Great simple product, but i’d recommend wearing socks if you’re going to massage your feet with it
