Pros
This model has a sliding top so there is no issue with hinges. My only complaint is that the lid slides too easily, but i handled thi by going to the hardware store, and getting a small latch to put on it.
Cons
The shoe valet is poorly built and was packaged improperly. The grains run lengthwise, so it's very weak, and it broke in half when someone put a little weight on the foot-holder. It's tacky to the touch - you see my fingerprints whenever i touch it.

I am so impressed with the craftsmanship.
Top part a little bit loose, otherwise very good
But i will order another one to replace it because the quality is excellent.
Beautiful workmanship with the exception that on the bottom inside of the box it was still sticky from the finish.

When i first received it and noticed this i kept the lid off to give it a chance to dry but it never dried after 5 days

I had hoped it would allow me to store bottles of conditioner polish and more but it is on the small side
