The velop also defaults to this out of the box but clearly they anticipated this scenario and came up with an alternative configuration that gets around this issue

The trick to fixing this is to reset the master node after you first configure it hold down the reset button until the led starts to blink red rapidly then release

The velop will now set its gateway to 10

Note that the third octet xxx appears to be configured randomly because i have another at a different location that configured its xxx network segment on different numbers
