I have had one hanging upside down on my patio for about a year and a half and everything works great
Ofcourse its protected from the rain however it is exposed to the outside weather and for it to still look and work like new i am pretty happy
If you are looking for a outside one of these foscam even makes a housing that you can mount this inside then mount the housing to your house so you can have the full usage of looking around at all angles
I likeit a little more difficult to set up than older models trying to be helpful but all working fine now
