Pros

Fits snugly without being too tight. Mounts solid on the lens both forward for shooting and backward for storage. This way, it even fits in my lens pouch. It just screws right on.

Takes about 1 second. For the price, it beats spending 4 times as much for an oem. It was recommended to me bu amazon after my saved one was discontinued.

Fit and finish are excellent. No obnoxious third party logos.

Works very well with my canon efs 55-250mm lens. Fit perfectly on my canon l 24-70mm. Fits ef-s 55- 250 is stm canon lens perfectly.

This is an essential for a couple of 1) lens protection for drops (primary reason) 2) minimizing tangential glare. This is accompanied with a microfiber cloth. It is an adequate replacement for a canon oem hood for those that are more concerned about ...  Read More

Cons

This cheaply made item is supposed to snap to the internal threads of canon's lens barrel. It sits lightly on the lens and disengages too easily for my taste. It is better than having nothing on the end of your camera, but just for looks.

Quality

It doesn't interfere with the lens filter.

Overall i am quite satisfied with this lens hood and would recommend it.

The felt inside is kinda crappy but decent product

Other than that, i am good to go since canon doesn't include this with the lens purchase.

Price

It works just as good as canon hood and is a fraction of the cost.

I mistakenly ordered in and now have to cover the cost of return.

Nearly identical in every way to the canon that costs 10x more

This hood would rate as a three star in isolation, but the affordable price bumps it up an extra star!

Packaging/appearance

I threw away all of the packaging etc and didn't check it for fit for quite a while, so i am kind of stuck with it.

Competitiveness

Perfect oem replacement at a fraction of the price.

It isn’t as thick as the canon one and lacks the felt interior but then again the oem one does cost nearly 7 times more

However the locking mechanism that keeps it oriented properly is a bit suspect so every now and again it will get bumped and ill get black corners in my photos because of the hood
