The stainless steel is not top notch quality so i hand wash it because i dont know if the dishwasher would affect the metal

You just turn the dial and each arm opens to the correct angle before it locks in place relative to the one above it and then the one below starts turning instead

I cant think of any improvements i would make to it i mean it would be cool if the unit could fold the arms down when you are putting it away but im not sure how to go about doing that without adding to the complexity of the device

The rods spread out into a full 360degree spiral if you turn the disc as far as it will go

Third there is a pasta wand for placing cut pasta on the rods that stores inside the central support pole
