Pros & Cons
Pros
The cutter goes straight and it doesn't care if it suddenly hits where a branch was in hardwood. It leaves a perpendicular wall if you're cutting a slot, etc. And in pantorouter, it's great for deep mortise and tenons. Clean them and give them a good ... Read More
The ora. Truly impressed. Anyways, amazing but. When used properly these bits work great.
Used this in a dewalt dw618 to surface a 4’ wide maple slab using a shop made *. Used it on birch plywood.
I was skeptical of a $20 diablo. Freud bits are the best. Couldn't be happier about the purchase money well spent.
Cons
Two attempts to reach freud were frustrated by a telephone menu as imprecise as the bit. This bit maybe lasted an hour on one slab of wood. Was way to dull to cut.
Highlights
Quality
A great quality bit - cuts very clean.
I use it to machine plastics, it leaves a great finish even during roughing cuts, the grind is good and it leaves a perpendicul... Read More
Even using this thing properly with safety gear and a tough apron do not take this specific one lightly.
The bit was still sharp and cut 10 mortises 1 3/4 inch deep on the ends of the table.
Price
Great router bit at a great price.
Worked perfect for my application and at a reasonable price
I could use the 1/4" straight bit that came in a set of various bits costing about what this one bit costs.
And again, not saying your whole set needs to be these--they're not cheap.
Shipping
Fast delivery and the bit was exactly what i was looking for.
Rather, it is a comment on the time that elapsed between ordering it and receiving it (11 days).
But it took so long to ship that i finally gave up waiting.
Packaging/appearance
Careful opening the box and grabbing it out, as you can maybe see in other reviews people have bled themselves.
Competitiveness
I don't know of a brand that is better than freud for router bits.
The 1/2" shank transfers more power for any brand, but it's still a feature.
