Drilling Speed
Customers have a generally positive sentiment towards the drilling speed of these Freud FC-107 Forstner Drill Bits, reporting that they cut through wood much faster than other drill bits and stay sharper for longer periods. Some customers recommend using a hammer drill for optimal performance. However, a few customers mention that the bit doesn't go all the way through thicker woods without requiring additional force or the use of a drill press.
Carbide Cutting Edge Durability
Customers generally praise the durability and sharpness of the carbide cutting edge of Freud's Forstner Drill Bits, with many reporting that they cut smoothly and last much longer than other brands. However, a small number of customers have reported issues with jagged edges or tearing wood fibers instead of cutting them cleanly.
Sharpness And Aggressiveness
Customers generally praise the sharpness and aggressiveness of Freud FC-107 Forstner Drill Bits, but some express disappointment as they experienced quick dulling and uneven cutting results.
Highlights
Quality
Worked awesome and stayed sharp through 24 holes and still going strong
Works great, plunging through 1-1/2" walnut with many holes, no problems at all, smooth and no burning.
The one i have been tracking has made 308, Ø1/2" x 1" deep holes into oak and walnut, and no sign of any degradation.
It dulled quickly, burned the material (oak), and caused tear-outs.
Price
Well worth the expense compared to lesser cost drills
I just purchased this freud carbide bit and it is definitely worth the extra cost.
I have purchased a number of relatively inexpensive steel bits that always wear out after a few dozen holes.
Not cheap but well worth the money.
Competitiveness
Well worth the extra money as compared to hss.
I have used more expensive forstner bits, but none have outperformed these!
