Pros & Cons
Pros
Foil-lined fiberglass mat wrapped around my 80 gallon water heater perfectly. Easy enough to place around the hot water tank and then secure and seal off with duct tape. Takes a bit to cut out the holes for the gas line and the drain line but it goes ... Read More
The frost king make is reasonable quality. The only downfall is the insulation fibers getting on skin even with gloves, but a good product.
I have a modern oil burner heating system that also heats my domestic hot water. This new insulation reduces my oil usage on hot water between 15-20%. Hot water definitely lasts longer, so my timer works even better.
The foil covering the fiberglass wants taped reinforcements wherever you make a cutout for a panel or a pipe. The width of the wrap did not need adjustment - it just fit. It's an insulation blanket that's made of fiberglass.
Cons
This product is too messy, especially for fiberglass. The yellow insulation sheds easily and becomes airborne so expect loose fiberglass fibers all over your work area and yourself. Suggest when putting this in get a hazmat suit and appropriate ppe.
My mistake on trying to buy online instead of going to a crowded hardware store during a pandemic. I hate the fact that ubhave to precut the spits for ur maintenance box panels. Fitting it around all of the sensors and connections was a frustrating ex... Read More
Highlights
Quality
Appears well-made and was an easy installation.
I am very, very pleased with the quality of the blanket, and tape.
The big problem with the product is the tape, it is terrible.
I used a 3m aura dust mask, use something snug fitting, the fiber glass dust starts floating right away, wear gloves as well.
Price
We are hoping the water heater insulation blanket will save money on our electric bill.
I picked this up to insulate my 50 gallon electric hot water heater after i was told by my utility it could save $10 per month.
So far, this insulation appears to save between $10 and $15 a month insulating an 80-gallon water tank.
Packaging/appearance
I’m happy with the purchase, in some ways, but i think the company could work on the packaging and instructions.
It came packed well, but was not easy to manipulate to move and install.
Competitiveness
I had another name brand tape already, so i used that.
