Apple cider vinegar diluted with water was a good bait. These fruit fly traps work great just add some apple cider vinegar.

So this fly trap was a kitchen saver and i didn't have to spend 30- 80 dollars on some fancier pest control product.
I think it has something to do with the holes being slippery and angled, i can't be happier, and they look good too!
I tried making my own home remedy with the apple cider vinegar in a cup and some drops of dish washing liquid.
