We use it on the non garbage disposal side and it keeps any food from slipping through and clogging the drain.
It is ease to dispose of the waste.
I can’t stand to see food particles godown the drain.

The design is deceptively clever big holes near the top of the strainer allow water to flow down the drain even when the rest of the basket is full of food particles

You can just pull it out and dump it in the trash or rinse it off in the other side

If the rubber tab went clear around the circle it would be trapping bits under it get wavy and annoying

Like the look and functionality however it doesn’t always stay sealed and so sink will drain if a dish bumps it
