Asus x99-a system from 2015 is old but was rarely used. The motherboard officially supports up to eight 4gb modules. It now runs stable at 2600 at 1. At 4. Is an older chipset and it's amazing these are compatible at all.

Remove heatsink due to case limitation, yet worked perfectly, normal temperature.


Since booting, using asus's tuning utility in windows as it sets the bios in the process, i've honed the timing settings.


Disclaimer - i am only running one bank of ram (4 modules in quad mode) on a system that is 7 years old and not officially compatible.


35v and the system became unstable and wouldnt even boot.

And it's $100 cheaper than the cheapest 4x8gb quad set available.

    A bios update did allow 16gb modules to be used and shown on an old tech article so i knew this kit would work but not at the native 3200 speed

    I installed this update prior to putting in the new ram but the wbesite information did not specify known hurdles to deal with
