It resolves two issues 1 the unique oculars make binocular x3 x6 times screen magnification so it is possible to see the tiny scene features and make a good focus 2 the shade resolves bright light reflections so can preview the image with good contrast

Be sure to read the instructions there is a onoff button on bottom of the snail if the snail doesnt glow at night press button again than let it charge only criticism cant tell if button is on or off

The globe that comes with the pole is fairly small only about 4 12 inches in diameter
